B&R Tree Service provides immediate response for hazardous situations involving fallen limbs and uprooted trees. Founder Bernie Gauthier ensures every crew reflects our 2001 values of safety and integrity.

Storm Damage & Hazardous Tree Mitigation

High winds and heavy ice can bring down massive hardwoods without warning. Our crews handle the situations storms create most often: trees leaning on or fallen onto homes, trees tangled in power lines, uprooted trunks, and fractured hanging limbs (“widow-makers”) that could drop at any moment. We stabilize and secure the property first, then remove the hazard under controlled rigging even in tight residential spaces so permanent repairs can begin without delay.

When Emergency Removal Requires a Crane

Some storm-damaged trees especially large sections resting on a roof or tangled in power lines can’t be safely removed by hand. In those cases, we bring in a crane to lift unstable sections vertically away from your home rather than risk dropping them. See our Crane Tree Removal page for more on how that process works.

What Should I Do If a Tree Falls on My House?

First, get everyone out of any affected rooms and stay clear of the area — a fallen tree can shift or cause further structural damage. Don’t go onto the roof or attempt to move any part of the tree yourself. Call B&R at 508.845.6111; we’ll assess the situation, stabilize what we can, and coordinate safe removal.

A Tree Is Leaning on a Power Line. Who Do I Call?

Call 911 and your utility company first, and treat every downed or contacted line as live, no matter how it looks. Keep people and pets well away from the area. Once the utility company has secured the line, call us to safely remove the tree.

Does Homeowner's Insurance Cover Storm Tree Damage?

Most homeowner’s policies cover tree removal when a storm causes the tree to fall on a covered structure, though coverage details vary by policy and insurer. It’s worth taking photos of the damage before cleanup begins, since documentation helps with any claim. We can provide a written estimate you can submit to your insurance company if needed.

Tree Emergency? Here's What to Do First

  1. Stay clear of downed power lines — assume every fallen line is live. Keep people and pets well away.
  2. If a line is down or sparking, call 911 and your utility company first, then call us.
  3. Leave the area under a leaning or partially fallen tree — don’t try to move limbs yourself.
  4. If a tree is on your home and it’s unsafe, get everyone out of the affected rooms.
  5. Call B&R at 508.845.6111 — we’ll talk you through the next steps and dispatch help.

Hazardous Limb Removal and Prevention

Not all emergencies involve a tree that has already fallen; some involve hanging limbs that pose an immediate threat. Specifically, our climbers identify “widow-makers” and fractured branches that could drop at any moment. We use advanced rigging to lower these hazards with total control, even in tight residential spaces. We bring this elite care to our neighbors in Shrewsbury, Natick, Charlton, and surrounding towns. By addressing these risks quickly, we prevent catastrophic property impact during the next high-wind event.

Excellent experience from start to finish. We had a large pine tree removed from a difficult location near power lines, our house, and a fence. The crew was professional, communicated well, and completed the job safely and efficiently. The work met our expectations. We would gladly recommend them to others.

I had multiple trees and overgrown shrubs removed. One of the large trees was tangled with the electric drop too. Bernie, the owner, personally came with his crew to oversee this big job over almost 3 days. Bernie is very knowledgeable about trees and plants and had so much good information to share, which was especially helpful for me since I'm new to Massachusetts. The crew cleaned up everything when they were done. The price was very reasonable (less than other quotes I got). I highly recommend B&R Tree Service! Good people, and it's a very friendly family business. The pics attached show the house before, in the middle, and after. Trees in the backyard were removed too (not shown).
