Crane Tree Removal in Charlton, MA

Crane tree removal uses a crane to lift heavy tree sections vertically up and out away from your roof, fence, and power lines instead of dragging them across your property. It’s the safest method for large, dead, or hard-to-reach trees where there’s no room to drop limbs. B&R Tree Service has handled complex crane removals across Charlton and Worcester County since 2001, with experienced climbers, crane operators, and full insurance.

Protecting Your Property During Crane Work

Crane removals involve heavy equipment working close to your home, so site setup matters as much as the lift itself. We use ground protection mats under the crane and outriggers to prevent lawn and driveway damage, and we plan the lift path in advance to keep sections clear of your roof, fence, and landscaping. Once the tree is down, our crew clears all debris and leaves the site the way we found it.

Why Crane Removal Works for Large or Hazardous Trees

Standard felling isn’t an option when a tree is too large, too close to structures, or too unstable to climb safely. A 75-ton crane lifts sectioned pieces straight up and away from your roof and power lines, rather than dropping them significantly reducing the risk of damage. This approach is especially useful for large dead pines or oaks that would otherwise put your home or utility lines at risk.

Coordinating the Lift

A crane removal only works if the rigging is right our climbers and crane operators communicate constantly to make sure each section is secured before it’s lifted. This precision matters most on properties with pools, decks, or landscaping directly beneath the tree, where there’s no margin for a miscalculated drop.

Will the Crane Fit in My Yard?

Most residential cranes need a clear path and stable ground to set up, but exact space requirements depend on the crane size and the tree’s location. During your on-site assessment, we evaluate access driveways, gates, and yard layout and confirm the right crane size and placement before the job is scheduled.

How Our Crane Tree Removal Process Works

  1. On-site assessment — We evaluate the tree’s size, condition, and surroundings, and confirm crane placement and reach.
  2. Setup & staging — The crane is positioned with stabilizing outriggers; we set ground protection and clear a safe work zone.
  3. Sectional dismantling — A climber (or the crane) rigs each section; the crane lifts it vertically clear of your roof, lines, and landscaping, then lowers it to a controlled drop area.
  4. Processing & cleanup — Wood is chipped or hauled (or left at your request) and we leave the site clean.

FAQ

Most Popular Questions

When a tree is too large, tall, or unstable to climb safely, when there's no room to drop limbs (tight yards, trees over a house, pool, or wires), or when it's dead or storm-damaged. A crane lifts sections straight up and away under full control.

For large or hard-to-reach trees, yes. Lifting wood vertically clear of your roof, landscaping, and power lines avoids dragging heavy logs across your property and reduces the risk to both the crew and your home.

It depends on the tree's size, the crane size and time required, access and rigging complexity, proximity to structures and power lines, and disposal. Crane jobs vary widely, so a free on-site assessment gives the accurate price.

Usually, yes. The crane stages within reach of the tree often from a driveway, street, or open area and we confirm access and the safest setup during the assessment. Most tight or backyard trees are reachable with the right crane and rigging plan.

Highly recommend B&R Tree Service! We had them remove limbs from and prune two large trees that were overhanging our neighbor's house, as well as pruning of large privet hedges and removing dead limbs from a huge curbside tree. They took great care when working near our neighbor's property. Bernie and his crew were friendly, arrived on time, worked quickly, and removed all the debris. We will definitely work with them again.

Called for a fallen tree from our recent NE storm in our yard that ended up just touching our house. Turned out it was several trees together and a few weak ones near it that needed attention too. Bernie came the same day to check it out and had his crew here the very next day...and a return with another machine ultimately used to clear up some tree mess. Very satisfied with the quote given and the hard work done. Second time we needed tree work and B&R was here for our needs.

The crew took down one tree and trimmed back several others around the yard. The use of the spider bucket made it possible to get to several trees that would not have otherwise been accessible due to the location of the septic system. Very professional job with very little disruption of the landscape. Very good value for the amount of work completed and the equipment that was necessary to accomplish the work.

B & R did an exceptional job for me yesterday. I live in Wayland MA. They were four people, including the owner himself and they pruned several trees removed several trees, trimmed bushes, did some directional pruning as well as some major pruning/ thinning of mature trees . They also removed some trees and saplings all as I was watching. They were flexible, modified to my requests. They also cut down a few extra branches on other trees that had not even been in the original quote. They were so very accommodating and extremely professional. Clean up was excellent too- they removed all of the branches and tree trunks. I feel like my property got an amazing haircut ! They were such a pleasure to work with🤗🤗

Bernie and his crew did a perfect job! They showed up with not 1 but 2 bucket trucks and other equipment! Through the process his crew was always coming to get me to make sure they were doing what I wanted. If there was something extra I wanted, they gladly complied! When Bernie cam to look at the scope of work I wanted, he picked up on issues and concerns the two other potential tree service companies did not!

Excellent experience from start to finish. We had a large pine tree removed from a difficult location near power lines, our house, and a fence. The crew was professional, communicated well, and completed the job safely and efficiently. The work met our expectations. We would gladly recommend them to others.
